Mid rummage in a second hand store I became fascinated by a basket of vintage slides, an assortment of holiday snaps covered in scratches, depicting manicured gardens, lake scenes and Egyptian travels. Turquoises were electric - enhanced by the neon light I crouched under to view them, and white in time had dulled to cream. With two hands full I selected 30 slides and now they sit on my desk while I hunt for a projector to decide which will make great prints for my walls, telling stories of holidays forgotten.
Having recently spoken with a friend about my creative process (feeling like his was much better than mine), and currently mid way through idea generation for a project, I felt some satisfaction that this slide discovery and the inspiration gained from it unintentionally filtered through to aforementioned creative project. Now I am floating on a blow up lounger of ideas, who would have thought taking someone else's holiday would have such an effect.
The images below are all on my current colourboard - sickly oversaturated brights, yellowed whites, deep tertiary tones with pastel clashes. Colour combos are always done best by Marni, Miu Miu and a little bit of time.
