I'm heading to Bali at the end of this month, so last weekend I braved the winter weather and the sight of my white skin to hunt for the perfect bikini. As the owner of many bikinis this was an entirely unnecessary excursion, my options are already plentiful, but there is something about purchasing a new swimsuit that enhances the excitement of heading away, it is something I can't resist.

I did manage to find a bikini, although as it is winter it was only the best of the limited options, but not necessarily the bikini to blow my others out of the suitcase. In general I find bikinis a little same same, the only variance really being the print and your choice of around 3 shape options. Other than close to full body exposure the bikini is pretty safe.

Dion Lee's Resort 2014 Oil + Water steps in to void everything I just said in my last paragraph, it has me wishing for some kind of production speed miracle resulting in delivery prior to my departure. In additional to his seasonal release of sculpted architectural dresses and clothing pieces Lee has dipped his toe in to swimwear design with spectacular results. Minimal, clean lines and creative shapes kick the bandeau to the curb and will no doubt create a ripple effect amongst fellow Australian swimwear brands.
