During Autumn and Spring I always feel a bit fashionably awkward, it's like the puberty of the seasons, not quite ready for some things, also not ready to give up others, often I find myself in the afternoon feeling like I made all the wrong outfit choices, usually sweaty or cold due to the up and down weather and my inability to dress for it - like I said, puberty of seasons. Because of this I often hold off on seasonal purchases until I really know how I'm feeling as far as wardrobe direction and figure out what I'm lacking when I pull out my old things from last year. In the meantime to bring life to old clothing I instead mix up my accessories, either with vintage or local finds, it's the easiest way to spruce without a splurge.
At the moment I have three earring styles keeping me seasonally distracted, and all are from New Zealand designers. Above are my most recent bow acquisitions from Joll by Emily Jolliffe. Emily is only just getting in to the jewellery game and these delicate bows caught my eye instantly - they are costume jewellery and available in brass plated silver (above) or silver plated. Due to how fine they are they do bend a little, but they are easy to reshape and I find them so pretty with a ponytail or a feminine collar.
Now that I am pulling out the long sleeve blouses and high waisted pants or jeans again I can't get enough of the latest gold hoop release from my pal Nina at Flash Jewellery (right). Available in both gold and silver these earrings are a little bit heavier, and big, but not so big they're knocking around on my shoulders all day, ( a real problem when you're not giraffe blessed in the neck region). Teamed with a messy ponytail with a silk scarf threaded through my belt loops I'm the office pirate and 100% in to it.
Last year at NZFW the models on the Kate Sylvester runway were adorned with brooches and singular oversized earrings, the second I saw them they were on my must have list, and for impatient months I constantly had "I wish I had those earrings right now" moments. The earrings weren't officially released in stores, but luckily for me and for you you can order them by getting in touch direct below. I had to put a little self ban on wearing this beauty too much as it is such a recognisable feature piece, but I reaaallly want to wear it every day. I find it perfect when teamed with more minimal or graphic outfits, it's a standout and the perfect go to earring when you need something bold. Want one?
